Indian telecom company MTNL is now looking forward to increase the contribution of the non-voice service like the internet and SMSs to a total revenue of 15 percent in this financial year. The contribution of the non voice services in the last fiscal was ten percent.

A K Bhargava, the executive director for Wireless Services at MTNL said, “This fiscal we are looking at 15 per cent revenue from non-voice services from 10 per cent in last financial year”. Bhargava at the sidelines of VAS Asia 2012 event said that MTNL has started consolidating value added services and has also enhanced the focus on the service which are more in demand.

Bhargava said, “We are working on process to enhance customer experience with priority to address his pain points as we consolidate. The idea is to focus on few services to provide rich customer experience and reduce their grievances”. In the financial year 2012 MTNL reported a revenue of ₹3,368.99 crore compared to ₹ 3,673.95 crore in the financial year 2011.

So as to improve the revenue the company is already working in sync with the other state run telecom company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited. In recent times MTNL had stopped the promotional offer for the plans under which the customers will be charged on a per minute basis.
